Awful Mind!

With so many crap all around us, it is very easy to be distracted from our big goals and the tasks at hand to get there. Get only what you need. Think logically about the things you want. Eliminate clutter, and focus on your next important task.

reflectionHere is the mistake that many make, I make, and maybe you make. It is that we confuse experience with learning. Just because you experience a process doesn't mean you learn from it. In fact, many people make the same mistakes over and over again.

We all know people who have greater potential than they believe themselves. And we think to ourselves, “If only I can get in his mind and show him what he’s capable of!” We know that everyone is capable of more than they realize. As we judge others, we must judge ourselves. When we look at other people’s lives, we have to realize that somebody can be looking at our lives too, and saying, “If only I can get into his mind…” We aren’t even doing the most we can. At the end of the day, we all share something similar, a mindset that underestimates our potential.

mimeSince I am in an industry where I work with many different talents, everyone has an ego and communication gets difficult. I learn that the key is to listen, understand the position of the person you are talking to, and their concerns. Then present your position and your concern.

Lots of people that wants to live a simpler life thinks that they must own little and want little. Both of those are quite hard to do especially wanting little. I don’t think this has to be the case to live simpler. Hell, this isn’t something I would want to do. Who want’s to want little? If so, how will there be big changes, entrepreneurs, revolutions, etc. Life is about passion, and doing what we love. Living simpler to me means owning and wanting more of the things you’re truly passionate about.

My mate has been doing some consulting/contract work and he got to partner with few other contractors together on a project. He soon found out that the other contractor was charging 75% more than he was charging, while he often had to follow up and correct the other contractor's work. What I learn from this is that you can make more money as a contractor with less skill compared to a full time job.

desk

Today, I added about 6 inches of height to my desk. My goal was to be able to stand at the desk and work, but so far 6 inches still isn't enough. I thought of this when I was cleaning under my desk. I thought to myself, “wouldn’t it be easier if my desk was higher, so it’ll be easier to see and clean under it?” I searched online, and discovered that many people stand to work for many beneficial reasons. It’s suppose to help blood circulations, most office chairs are not ergonomic because it fixates your body in one position, and standing instead of comfortably laying back in your chair also increases productivity.
