6 inches isn’t enough

desk

Today, I added about 6 inches of height to my desk. My goal was to be able to stand at the desk and work, but so far 6 inches still isn't enough. I thought of this when I was cleaning under my desk. I thought to myself, “wouldn’t it be easier if my desk was higher, so it’ll be easier to see and clean under it?” I searched online, and discovered that many people stand to work for many beneficial reasons. It’s suppose to help blood circulations, most office chairs are not ergonomic because it fixates your body in one position, and standing instead of comfortably laying back in your chair also increases productivity.

As you know, 6 inches isn't enough. I need 6 more inches to be able to stand at the desk to work comfortably. I'll probably look into another set of table legs. Sure, it seems unpleasant at first to work 8 hours standing, but I thought it would be different and worth the risk. Heck, I can always just lower the desk if it turned out to be a bad idea. Or I can just pick up a drafting stool which cost about $50 - $100.

Also, if you have back problems, try raising your desk and stand to work too. If you rather sit to work, try an exercise ball. Balancing yourself on the exercise ball will strengthen your core muscles that support your spinal chord. Humans weren't to sit for 8+ hours a day. We were meant to move around. If you're curious about the exercise ball idea, check out Google. Many of their employees use it. It looks cool too.
